Tutorial DIY Apothecary Jar

Today is tutorial day!

With Halloween only 101 days away I am preping like crazy!  I thought it would be fun to  make a quick tutorial on how to make an apothecary, or potion jar.

You will need:

  • A glass (or plastic jar)
  • Sandpaper (fine grit)
  • Matte Mod Podge
  • Yellow paint
  • Brown paint
  • Label
  • Piantbush
  • Baby wipes or tissue

First take your sand paper and lightly sand the bottle.  Focusing on the the largest parts where the bottles would bump against each other.

Next take your yellow paint and use a babywipe or tissue to lightly wipe the yellow all over the bottle.

Once the yellow paint has dried, grab your paintbrush and your brown paint and do a quick dry brush over the yellow.

After that you will take your Mod Podge and paint it on the back of your label.  Then affix your label to your bottle.

You will then take your Mod Podge and paint over the whole bottle.

Once the Mod Pogde dries, take a bit of the brown on your finger and rub it round the edges of your label to give it a bit of age.

Lastly find something fun to fill your bottle!  Use moss, bones, leaves, ink, glow powder whatever you wish to simulate the ingredients on your label.
