My favorite types of self care

On my journey to makeover my life, I am currently focusing on myself.

This is extremely hard for me to do.  Moms aren’t allowed to be selfish and I feel incredibly selfish taking time to care for myself.  I know that it isn’t, it’s not hurting my kids to take an hour for myself.  It still feels wrong though.  I know the more I do it the easier it will become, the better at it I will be.  Then I will become happier and less stressed.

I have compiled a list of things I can do for myself, that don’t take ages or loads of money.

  • Spa.  Once a week I will have a mini spa night for myself, facial mask, deep conditioning, body scrub and long hot bath
  • Read.  Take some time to read a chapter of a good book
  • Yoga.  A good stretch, work out and boost of energy
  • Meditation.  Even just 10 minutes to calm my mind, let go of the days stress
  • Art.  Making art for me and not for business
  • Journal.  Basically a brain dump
  • Cuppa.  Taking a little time to really enjoy a good cup of tea
  • Nap.  Take a short nap, on the couch, in the sun
  • TV.  Watch a favorite show.  Just watch, not doing anything else
  • Game.  Taking a bit of time to play a video game
  • Pinterest.  Peruse Pinterest find places to go, things to try, food to cook
  • Unplug.  Get OFF social media for a while
  • Pets. Sitting with the kitties and petting or brushing them is actually quite soothing
  • Nature.  Get out of the house. Sit out side, go for a walk, go to the park
  • Movie.  Go see a movie that I want to see.  In the theater.  Splurge on a small candy
  • Mani/Pedi.  Give myself a mani and/or pedi (put that schooling to use ha!)
  • Declutter.  Declutter my physical space
  • Love. Get a hug from the kids, kiss hubs, get a kitty snuggle
  • Serenity. Watch the sunrise
  • Sleep. Go to bed early
  • Cook.  Make my favorite meal, plate it beautifully, drink sparkling juice from wine glasses
  • Beauty.  Have fun with make up
  • Write. I have always wanted to write a book, even it it’s just for me

Self care is so important. Especially for those of us who dedicate our lives to other people. You have to invest a little into yourself from time to time!
